Not clickbait, I promise — we just tested it ourselves to make sure the shortcut was still working! I'd love to help you figure this out — what app were you using to download the video Safari, YouTube? There are some Youtube clips that cannot be downloaded onto your iPad or iPhone.

You can check it first that if there is no "download" button on the right of the "share button" when you open the clip on Youtube app , it means that you cannot download right into your iPad or iPhone as well. Works nicely, do you have other shortcuts that works on Twitter, Facebook,Vimeo, it will even be great to have one that can download any video from any site. Thanks, it did work on few but mostly it did not, returns blank image. I'm only trying to download from YouTube. Does it work on facebook too.

Sample link : youtu. Hey, Thiagu. We're getting the same result from that video. However, this method seems to work for other videos from that creator. We're looking into why this works for some videos but not others.

One last thing is I was going through your shortcut I don't see where you specify with the file type is that it saves as well as you're saving it as a video stream which doesn't make sense.

If you dig into the shortcut's inner workings you'll notice a list of numbers 22, 18, 34, Those correspond to the youtube itag ids for mp4 videos which the iPhone supports in order from highest to lowest quality.

The shortcut asks youtube for info about the video, then uses those ids to prioritize which URL to try to download. It appears that some videos require some additional kind of authentication before it'll let you download them using the URLs returned in that API call, while others don't, which is why some of you are having issues with some videos, but not others. It didn't work for me either - youtu.

So are we just going to get the blank image for some videos? Just have to find s different version in order to be able to save it? Also, does anyone know if I would get in trouble for uploading something I get from YouTube to Vimeo?

I prefer Vimeo but they don't have the video I'm looking for which is what brought me to look for a way to do this. Thank for this info. If I can get it to work it's awesome! I'm using the YouTube app btw, I didn't try it through Safari because I read the other comments and it seems that just certain videos won't let you download, is that correct?

Thx again! I can't get it to do anything when I try from Safari. I tried the share option under the video and that didn't give the option for "more", so I tried the share at the bottom of the Safari page and did the shortcut and got nothing. I've tried several versions of the video and I'm not able to get it.

Am I doing something wrong? I find an online downloader could work. But it needs to find an app called "Documents" in AppStore then install it. After that, launch "Documents" on your iPhone and go to VidPaw.

It will direct you to the download page so you can choose output format and quality. Hit "Download" again and select your output folder, choose done, and that's all It seems a little bit complicated, but when you start to do it, things are easy Hope can help.

Trying both audio and video. That seems odd. Are you getting an error with each one? Aaron There was an error that the URL could not be found. MartinBarn It is just crashing for me. I can select a video from a playlist, but whether with a video link or a playlist link, the whole Shortcut crashes.

AppleSupport Hello! I am so glad you guys made this, but I am having a problem where one action just isnt working for me. Sky when i try downloading the audio, it doesnt prompt where to save the file? May i ask where's the file will be saved? Now I got an error message. I reinstalled it an restarted my IPad. This did not fix it. This video was one of them. Any advice? Eveex Any possibility for better resolution? Trexx Thank you for this application.

Robnor1 What resolution does this download YouTube videos in? Is it p as a maximum? MostlyAudio Working on iOS For example, titles will come back like this Nathan30 The latest version 6.

TheWarHawk Something as big as this probably needs an Updater fo bug fixes HawkUpdater is always an option. If you can fix it, pls do it. This doesn't occur all the time, but when it does, it doesn't go away until you force quit the YouTube App. Re-downloading the shortcut does not solve the issue. Davidvb It would be fantastic if you could implement the option of having a voice controlled menu instead of a list. Coldsteak I used to use this all the time, but suddenly I get a "No URL specified" error after I go through all of the options before download.

With the second video I got the above error, but then got it working by pressing "play"-icon in the workflow app. Now with the third it won't go at all - seems to me like apple doesn't like it.. Thatgraham Firstly, fantastic shortcut, thanks for building it.
